According to a CNN/ORC poll released Friday, nearly 70 percent of Americans said the economy is in poor shape, and only 32 percent rated it good. Despite a recent string of positive economic news, many Americans are cutting back on essentials like food and medicine and aren't buying big-ticket items like furniture or appliances.
