Editorial: H-E-B good for downtown

SAN ANTONIO – After many years and much debate, it looks like downtown will finally get a grocery store after all.
While the new H-E-B is going to be small, it's still the long-awaited catalyst that will spur more development downtown.
H-E-B says they need to close part of Main Avenue, and are ponying up millions of dollars to help improve surrounding streets as part of the deal.
In return, some groups are actively opposing the progress that's poised to take a huge leap forward in our urban center.
While the process may have been more transparent, closing part of a street is certainly not going to lead to ruin.
Remember just a few years ago when people thought that Main Plaza's transformation was going to bring about negative consequences?
Well, yes, a few streets were closed, but today Main Plaza is recognized as one of the country's best public spaces.
The sky didn't fall then and it's not going to now either.
