Wounded warriors visit SA Zoo with Spurs guard

Trip donated by Tony Parker

Two wounded warriors and their families enjoyed a visit to the San Antonio Zoo like none other Saturday.

Spurs guard Tony Parker joined the veterans and their families on a private tour.

The group visited the hippos, rhinos, lions and an okapi named Chuma.

The unique experience was donated by Parker as an auction item for Tux 'N' Tennies, Silver and Black Give Back's annual fundraising gala.

Parker said he was looking to change things up this year.

"I did a dinner and I wanted to do something different," said Parker. "Give back to the community and share a unique experience and be different from a dinner."

"Today is one of those days you just can't explain. Words cannot express the gratefulness and gratitude that we have towards (the) city, Spurs, there's just so much that the city and Spurs give back to their soldiers. This is truly military city, U.S.A.," said Daniel Burgess, S.S.G.

Parker is a San Antonio Zoo Society board member.
