County officials ready for primary election

Voting in primary elections begins Tuesday

With Election Day upon us in Bexar County, Elections Administrator Jacquelyn Callanen said her department is ready to handle what she hopes could be a record turnout.

"Everything has been delivered and our elections officials are at their voting sites making sure all is in order," Callanen said.

She urged voters to also prepare for the election by doing their homework.

"The ballot has anywhere from 12 pages of voting to 12 pages of review to as high as 31 pages of voting, so please come prepared," she urged.

Callanen also reminded voters to make sure that they bring a photo ID along. Any government issued identification -- driver's license, passport -- are among the acceptable forms of photo ID.

Based on a good early voting turnout, Callanen said she expects a good turnout on Tuesday.

The only consideration is the weather. A cold morning, she said, could result in a slow start.
