Teen charged in fatal stabbing of step-grandfather in Kerrville

Kerrville Police: 15-year-old charged with murder

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of his step-grandfather in Kerrville.

Kerrville police responded to a 911 call on Friday, Feb. 28, about a stabbing at a home in the 500 block of Rees Street around 9:30 p.m.

When officers got there, police found a 44-year-old man who had been stabbed once in the chest, a Kerrville PD press release stated. Officers said witnesses told them the person who stabbed the man ran away.

The department's preliminary investigation indicated the victim's 15-year-old grandson was arguing with his grandmother when the victim stepped in.

The teen and his step-grandfather fought and fell to the floor, according to witnesses.

During the physical altercation on the floor, the victim sustained a stab wound. The victim was rushed to the hospital, but died a short time later.

The 15-year-old suspect returned to the scene shortly afterward. He was arrested and taken to the Kerr County Juvenile Detention Center, police said.

The suspect remains at the detention center pending his appearance before a magistrate in a Juvenile Hearing on the charge of murder.
