Alamo Heights PD: Teen stole bikes from store, used one for ride home

Marce Marquez, 17, arrested in connection with thefts from Bike World

Alamo Heights police believe they have caught up with a teen suspected of stealing bicycles from a local business.

Marce Marquez, 17, was arrested on Monday in connection with the thefts.

An arrest affidavit stated Marquez broke into the Bike World on Broadway Street on two different occasions.

The front window was shattered with a rock during the first break-in and a metal bar was used to pry open a door during the second break-in, the affidavit stated.

After both break-ins, police said Marquez fled with bicycles worth hundreds of dollars. The affidavit stated Marquez then sold the stolen bicycles on Craigslist.

Police investigated and determined Marquez was the suspect behind the crimes.

The affidavit stated police took Marquez into custody and he told investigators he broke into the business the first time because he got cold while walking home and took a bicycle because he needed a ride.
