Worker accused of stealing from Target registers

SAPD: Abel Garza, 18, sometimes stole money twice per day

An 18-year-old man is accused of stealing money from cash registers at a Target store where he was a seasonal employee.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated that Abel Garza took more than $3,900 from the business during a three-week period, beginning a few days before Christmas last year and continuing through early January.

According to the affidavit, Garza was caught on surveillance cameras, taking money and "hiding it on his person."

San Antonio police believe he committed the thefts sometimes as often as twice per day, the affidavit stated.

Detectives obtained a warrant for Garza's arrest in February, and a charge of theft officially was filed against him on Tuesday.
