New Mexico man had sex with 16-year-old boy he met online

Deputies: 34-year-old man New Mexico man arrested in San Antonio

A 34-year-old New Mexico man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of sexual assault of a minor, according to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators believe Mathew Williams was in San Antonio to meet a 16-year-old boy he met online.

A Bexar County Sheriff's Office patrol deputy stopped Williams at 1:30 a.m. Thursday for a traffic violation at Pue Road and Sunset Place, on the west side of Bexar County.

Authorities said the deputy recognized the 16-year-old boy because he had previous contact with him a few days earlier on a separate incident.

The 16-year-old boy admitted to having sexual relations with Williams, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Williams told investigators he was in town for a funeral, but after further discussions with Williams and the boy, investigators determined Williams and the teenage boy met online before Williams' trip to San Antonio, deputies said.

Williams was taken into custody Thursday morning and has a bond of $75,000.
