Former Sabinal police officer sentenced in child porn case

Jason Lee Villasana gets 15 years for distribution of child porn

A former Sabinal, Texas police officer was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to distributing child pornography.

U.S. Attorney Robert Pitman and FBI Acting Special Agent in Charge Aaron C. Rouse, San Antonio Division, announced the sentencing in a press release Thursday.

Jason Lee Villasana pleaded guilty on Aug. 21, 2013, to one count of distribution of child pornography.

Court records indicate that from May 2011 until Nov. 15, 2012, Villasana received, stored and sent images and videos of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

During a Nov. 15, 2012, search of Villasana's residence, FBI agents and investigators from the Texas Attorney General's Law Enforcement Division seized various electronic media belonging to Villasana. Approximately 250 images, seven videos and 54 thumbnail images of child pornography were found on the devices seized in the search.

Villasana has been in federal custody since being arrested on Dec. 18, 2012. His sentence was given Wednesday in Del Rio.

He will serve an additional 10 years of supervised release following completion of the 15 years in federal prison.
