Funeral set for baby found at San Antonio recycling center

Services for baby Noel to be held Saturday at Summit Christian Center

The funeral for a baby boy found dead at an East Side recycling center three months ago has now been set.

Services for baby Noel will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Summit Christian Center.

"This funeral brings honor, closure, hope and peace. It is a tragedy but we are going to turn this into hope and his life did have meaning," said Pamela Allen, who fought to give Noel a proper burial.

After months of legal battles, a judge ordered Noel's body be released to those who wanted to bury the baby.

"When that happened I knew this is something I have to respond to and to whom much is given much is required. I have been given a lot of grace and love, and that's required," Allen said.

Dozens of people reached out to help and through donations Allen has raised $5,000 to pay the funeral costs.

"There's been so many people that have reached out, so many people that want to turn this into a peaceful moment. I think we need that as a city. We see things in our nation, we see things in our city and we need to have that hope."

Noel will be laid to rest on Monday at Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
