Authorities nab suspect in fatal hit-and-run in south San Antonio

Gustavo Rodriguez, 22, charged in November murder

A murder suspect was taken into custody Tuesday night after spending months on the run.

Gustavo Rodriguez, 22, is facing charges in connection with killing a woman, by hitting her with a stolen vehicle at the intersection of East Formosa and Pleasanton Road on Nov. 1, 2013. Witnesses reported that Rodriguez ran from the scene.

On Tuesday afternoon, the San Antonio Police Department asked for help finding Rodriguez and just before 8 p.m. on that same day, the Bexar County Sheriff's Fugitive Apprehension Unit caught him.

The Fugitive Apprehension Unit tracked him down to the 200 block of Lorita Drive and arrested him without incident.

Rodriguez also had in his possession a stolen motorcycle and a stolen handgun. Deputies also recovered a shotgun.

Sheriff officials said Rodriguez will likely also face charges for the stolen property.
