The former mayor of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, has been found dead in Monterrey.

According to KGNS.TV, the body of Benjamin Galvan Gomez was found Monday alongside well-known Nuevo Laredo businessman Miguel Angel Ortiz.

Galvan was reportedly kidnapped Feb. 27 as he came out of a pharmacy in Nuevo Laredo. Ortiz was with him at the time.

No arrests have been made.

The former mayor was interviewed by KSAT-12 News reporter Jessie Degollado in February 2013 for a story on a new crime-fighting initiative by Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto.

During the interview, Galvan said the president's strategy will draw resources and expertise from all branches of government, but it won't be a quick fix.

"The situation is difficult and complicated," Galvan said. "It won't be resolved in a day or two like we would want."
