SAPD: Wrong-way driver nearly crashes on I-35, arrested for DWI

Car spotted headed wrong-way near Zarzamora Street

A wrong-way driver caused some tense moments on a San Antonio highway on the South Side early Wednesday morning.

San Antonio police received a report of a wrong-way driver headed southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 around 3 a.m.

Officers spotted the suspected vehicle near Theo Avenue and followed it past Zarzamora Street.

Police said the driver nearly crashed into several big rigs that were forced to move out the way before he came to a stop.

SAPD officials said the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
