Meth worth $1.2M found in hidden truck compartment

Border Patrol agents find 15 bundles of meth wrapped in black tape

Authorities say U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Rio Grande Valley Sector seized more than 37 pounds of crystal methamphetamine Wednesday at the Falfurrias Checkpoint on U.S. Highway 281 North.

The narcotics were found after a Border Patrol K-9 alerted to a Ford F-150 pickup during an immigration inspection, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Officials said upon further inspection agents found 15 bundles of methamphetamine wrapped in black tape inside an aftermarket compartment in the rear seat of the truck.

The methamphetamine has an estimated value of more than $1.2 million, CBP officials said.

Authorities said the driver was arrested and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations along with the narcotics.
