Woman killed in SW Side crash identified

SAPD: Victim ID'd as 28-year-old Yvonne Vidalis

The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office has released the name of a woman who was killed in a crash on the Southwest Side Thursday afternoon.

Yvonne Vidalis, 28, was driving a sedan that was struck by a truck on the access road of Interstate 35 near Shepherd Road, according to sheriff's deputies.

Deputies said the truck turned in front of the sedan and struck it on the driver's side. Vidalis was transported to Southwest General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Her 16-year-old passenger was taken by medical helicopter to University Hospital in unknown condition. The driver of the truck was not seriously injured.

Sheriff's deputies have not said if any charges would be filed in the fatal accident.

On Friday, Vidalis' mother said that her daughter was "wonderful, always happy."

Evelyn Vidalis said her daughter was planning with her next paycheck to get life insurance and make funeral arrangements in case she died.
