Inspection team recovers 18 assault rifles, ammo heading for Mexico

Federal authorities at the Eagle Pass port of entry recovered a load of assault riffles and ammunition heading for Mexico on Friday.

Friday morning, the port of entry enforcement team was conducting outbound inspections at Eagle Pass International Bridge when a truck arrived, heading for Mexico.

Using non-intrusive imaging equipment to inspect the truck, team members found a stash of weapons hidden in the vehicle.

Team members seized a total of 18 AK-47 assault riffles, along with 17 magazines and over 4,000 rounds of ammunition.
