SAPD: Teens ram stolen van into patrol car

Police: 5 minors charged with criminal mischief of police car, evading arrest

San Antonio police said five minors were arrested early Tuesday morning after they stole a minivan and rammed an SAPD patrol car.

SAPD officers received a call for a suspicious minivan around 12:30 a.m. near Loop 410 and Dewhurst on the Northwest Side.

An officer spotted the van, but the driver rammed the patrol car and all five minors fled on foot in different directions, police said.

SAPD officials said one of the teens was struck by a taxi as he ran across Loop 410 while the other four were quickly apprehended with the help of SAPD's Blue Eagle helicopter.

The injured teen was taken to University Hospital with unknown injuries. Police said all five will be charged with criminal mischief of a police car and evading arrest.
