Store video leads to arrest in credit card abuse case
Johnny Fonseca, 41, accused of charging stolen card
A 41-year-old man is believed to be the man who was caught on surveillance video, using a woman's stolen credit cards, and now San Antonio police have arrested him.
Johnny Fonseca was arrested Monday on a charge of credit card abuse. A 20 year old woman called police April 2 after discovering that someone had broken into her car while she visited a business in the 5400 block of S. Flores.
The burglar also removed her designer purse which contained her credit cards, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
The affidavit stated that the victim soon found out that her credit cards were being used at a nearby gas station.
Police were able to obtain surveillance video from the business, and they said it showed a clear image of a heavyset man and his car, which had distinct markings, the affidavit stated.
Officers in the area spotted the car and attempted to stop it, but the driver got out and ran away, the affidavit stated.
It stated that police found Fonseca's ID card inside the car, and that they believe he resembled the man in the surveillance video.
Police also found evidence that Fonseca pawned the woman's designer purse, the affidavit stated.
