SAPD: Driver of car said she did not notice ambulance

An ambulance responding to an emergency collided with a car on the Northwest Side late Wednesday night.

The crash occurred just after 10 p.m. near Babcock and De Zavala roads.

According to San Antonio police, the ambulance was called to a pedestrian accident and had its lights and sirens activated when it drove through a red light.

A woman who had the green light on Sunset Haven Street told police she did not notice the ambulance and struck it.

The ambulance lost control, jumped a curb and crashed through a fence.

The driver who struck the ambulance was transported to Methodist Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Another ambulance had to be called to transport the injured pedestrian to the hospital.

The driver of the ambulance involved in the crash was reportedly not injured, police said.
