A woman's body was found along a Southwest Side road early Friday morning, and San Antonio police are investigating how the victim got there.

A bicyclist found a woman's body along a Southwest Side road early Friday morning, and San Antonio police are investigating how the victim got there.

SAPD investigators said the man found the body around 2:30 a.m. about 10 to 15 feet off Cassin Lane near Interstate 35.

"He touched her to see if she would wake up and she did not. He went home and called the police. We found her there," said San Antonio Police Sgt. Edwin D. Rivera.

Police said the appeared to have died somewhere else and been dumped on the side of the road, but they did not believe she had been there long.

"She's got no shoes on. If she would have gotten there on her own, she would have had some shoes and maybe some other personal effects with her," said Rivera. "That's why we're thinking she was actually put there."

Police said there were no obvious signs of trauma on the body.

"No blood, no signs of bullet holes or blunt trauma or any stab wounds that we can tell right now," said Rivera.

Police said the identified woman appeared to be a Hispanic female in her mid 30s. Officials said the body would be sent to the medical examiner to determine a cause of death.
