New bag, door policies in effect Thursday at Madison High School

Madison High School takes extra precautions due to continued threats

Due to continued rumors and threats focused on Madison High School, officials are taking extra precautions to protect the safety of students.

According to North East ISD spokesperson Aubrey Chancellor, starting Thursday and extending through the end of the year, students will be required to carry clear or mesh backpacks.

The school has also decided to keep the doors locked until 7:45 a.m.

A call went out to parents Wednesday night to notify them of the changes.

On Monday, Madison High School went into lockdown when a student brought loaded guns to campus. The next day the school went into a "soft lockdown" when a student from another school sent a threatening text to a Madison student.
