Motorcyclist identified in violent head-on crash

SAPD: Speeding driver crashed into motorcyclist

A motorcyclist died and two others were injured in a head-on crash on the Southeast Side late Thursday night.

The crash happened around 10:45 p.m. in the 2500 block of East Southcross Boulevard.

According to San Antonio police, a car was speeding eastbound on Southcross when the driver, 38-year-old Ruben Quinones, hit a dip in the road and bottomed out.

The driver lost control and the car veered to another lane, striking the motorcyclist, 27-year-old Juan Moreno Lopez, head-on police said.

Lopez was ejected from the bike and pronounced dead at the scene.

San Antonio firefighters had to cut two men out of the mangled car. They were both transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition.

Quinones faces charges of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.
