San Antonio housing market continues to sizzle
Total sales for April 2014 up 7 percent from April 2013
Homes for sale in San Antonio in April were on the market the lowest amount of days since the summer of 2013.
According to the April 2014 Multiple Listing Service report by the San Antonio Board of REALTORS, homes were on the market for 71 days, a 15 percent drop from April 2013.
Total sales for April were 2,133, a 7 percent increase from April 2013, SABOR said. The month ended with 2,103 pending sales with 4 and a-half months of inventory available.
Total home sales were at 6,826, a 5 percent increase.
"We continue to see record numbers of homes listed and sold all over the city," said Missy Stagers, SABOR's 2014 Chairman of the Board. "Such low days on market indicate how quickly many homes are moving."
The median price of a home sold in San Antonio was $170,900, a 7 percent increase from April 2013 and lower than the median for the rest of Texas. The average price was $206,492, a 6 percent year-over-year increase.
"We had more new listings in April 2014 than we've had since April of 2010," said SABOR president and CEO Angela Shields. "Mortgage rates remain low and with many families moving during the summer, we expect to see sales figures pick up even more."
