A 38-year-old woman has died following an early morning crash Saturday.
The crash happened around 3 a.m. in the 300 block of East Basse Road near Highway 281 and Jones Maltsberger.
According to police, a 2008 Dodge Dakota was speeding through the intersection of Basse Road and McCullough when the driver, Manuel Ortalejo, swerved to avoid another vehicle and lost control and crashed into two trees.
The passenger, 38-year-old Elizabeth Villasana, was trapped and had to be cut out of the vehicle. Villasana was airlifted to San Antonio Military Medical Center, where she died.
Ortalejo, 30, was transported to University Hospital. Ortalejo was charged with intoxication manslaughter.
