David Robinson takes students on shopping spree

Given Thursday night's hard-fought Spurs win, most fans want to show their support by wearing -- and displaying -- lot's of silver and black.

At the Academy Sports and Outdoors at Loop 410 and Vance Jackson on San Antonio's North Side, some special Spurs fans and a Spurs legend stopped in to stock up.

David "The Admiral" Robinson joined 30 students from Idea Public Schools for a private visit to the store, where he is also a business partner.

He gave each student a $100 gift card and sent them shopping.

"It's an encouragement," Robinson said. "I mean, we all like to be encouraged and rewarded for our hard work. And our kids have been putting in some great time in the classroom—they're phenomenal students. And they do, they work very hard all year."

"I've just got to look around to see what I'm going to buy," student Michael Humble said. "It's really fun and I'm happy to be here."

"I'm looking for hats, key chains, water bottles, flags, T-shirts," student Daniel Velasquez.
