Teen struck, killed by train ID'd

SAPD: Mark Farley, 16, walking on tracks, wearing headphones when hit

The teenager who was hit by a train on San Antonio's North Side on Thursday has been identified as 16-year-old Mark Farley.

San Antonio police said Farley was walking on the train tracks near Savoy and Empire just east of Highway 281 near the airport when he was struck and killed.

He was said to be wearing headphones at the time.

The Union Pacific train conductor told police investigators that he saw the teen walking on the tracks and and attempted to alert the teen by sounding his horn several times. He also used the train's emergency brakes in an attempt to avoid hitting the teen.

There was a camera on the train and the footage will be reviewed by investigators.
