Folklife Festival showcases variety of cultures

200 organizations represent 40 cultures at annual event

The Annual Texas Folklife Festival is in town this weekend, offering a chance to taste, touch and experience the many cultures that make Texas unique.

There are 40 cultures represented by more than 200 organizations at the event being held at the Institute of Texan Cultures.

Visitors can enjoy live music, dance performances and of course a wide variety of food with at least 30 dining booths on hand.

"You're meeting Texans who have been here for generations, you're meeting Texans who have been here for a couple of days in some cases. So it's the old and new, it's all about Texas. It identifies us," said James Benavides, senior communications specialist.

The festival, in its 43rd year, runs through Sunday night at 7 p.m.
