SAN ANTONIO – A chase through Balcones Heights ended with a man under arrest for possession of drugs.

An officer reportedly tried to pull over a driver along West Avenue around 10:15 p.m. Monday.

The driver refused to stop and drove down several side streets from West Avenue to Buckeye Avenue, then over to Venice Street.

The chase ended when the driver got his car stuck on railroad tracks near Interstate 10 and West Avenue.

Police said the driver attempted to cross the tracks, but was not able to escape.

Police searched the driver's car and found marijuana and amphetamines inside.

The driver could face charges for evading arrest and drug possession, Balcones Heights police said.

It was unknown why police attempted to initially pull over the driver.
