2 firefighters hurt, 2 dogs dead in East Bexar County fire

$130K worth of damage done in house fire

SAN ANTONIO – A fire in East Bexar County sent two firefighters to the hospital and left two dogs dead Saturday.

The fire in the 8500 block of Northmont Drive started outside a mobile home around  6:30 p.m, according to the Bexar County Fire Marshal.

One firefighter was transported to Northeast Baptist Hospital for smoke inhalation.

Another firefighter was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center when he injured his knee after falling through the floor of the home.

No one was home at the time.

Arson is investigating the cause of the fire which caused about $130,000 worth of damage.
