SAN ANTONIO – An East Side Burger King employee is accused of doing more than selling Whoppers.
San Antonio police said she also told a whopper about a robbery at the restaurant.
An arrest warrant affidavit stated that Antoinette Martinez, 19, was the only employee working inside the fast food restaurant, located in the 1500 block of N. New Braunfels Avenue, when it reportedly was robbed on the night of June 18.
Police said Martinez told them someone dressed in black from head to toe pointed a gun at her and stole more than $750 from the business, the affidavit stated.
Officers searched the area but did not find a suspect.
The affidavit stated that detectives later questioned Martinez after an unrelated robbery and she admitted to being involved in the earlier Burger King robbery.
Martinez told police the person dressed in black was actually a co-worker with whom she had planned the staged crime, the affidavit stated.
She was booked into jail Sunday on a charge of theft.
