Family seeks justice for slain brother

Roland Castillo, 67, found dead in home in 2012

SAN ANTONIO – The family of Roland Castillo, 67, has gone two years without justice and on Tuesday, his sister, Maria Nena Gonzales said she will not rest until they find her brother's killer.

Castillo was found dead in his home in the 2700 block of Wilborn Street in June 2012.

San Antonio Police said there appeared to be some type of struggle between Castillo and his killer.

"He was home," said Gonzales. "And he was robbed of his life because somebody invaded his home."

Gonzales said her brother meant a lot to a lot of people and that they all would like justice for him.

"He was very well loved -- not just among families, but with friends," said Gonzales. "We had an unveiling here three weeks ago and I was amazed to see the number of friends that showed up. We had up to 80 people here."

Castillo was an operating room nurse. He served in the military and he loved to travel.

And even though it's been two years, Gonzales said it's still difficult to come to terms with his death.

"We can talk about it, but the pain is there. Especially knowing that this person walks the streets free," said Gonzales. "Does this person not have a heart? Does he not realize what he did?"

After two years, police still don't many leads in finding out who killed Castillo.

Anyone with information on his death is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 224-STOP. The reward for information on this case is now up to $15,000.
