Kai named finalist for Hero Dog Award

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Fire Department's one and only arson dog, Kai, is headed to Hollywood.

The 6-year-old black Labrador has been named a finalist in the American Humane Association's "Hero Dog Award," beating out more than a dozen other canines from across the country.

Kai was rescued from a shelter years ago, and now works to solve arson cases for the San Antonio Police Department.

As a finalist, Kai will be awarded $1,500 for her chosen charity, Project Paws Alive, and will be flown to Hollywood in September, where the Hero Dog winner will be announced.

If selected, Kai will win an additional $5,000 for her chosen charity partner.

You can vote for Kai once per day until Sept. 15 by clicking here.
