Woman dies less than 2 weeks after New Braunfels crash

Rosalinda Cadena, 61, dead, 15-year-old in critical condition

A woman who had been in the hospital since July 3 following a major crash has died, New Braunfels police said Monday in a statement.

Rosalinda Cadena, 61, was riding with Jacob Arsate, a 15-year-old relative, on the night of July 3, when a 27-year-old man driving a freight truck plowed into the side of the 2013 Chevrolet Sonic she was riding in at the intersection of Barbosa Road and FM 1101.

All three involved were taken to hospitals with injuries the night of the crash. The freight truck driver reportedly only sustained minor injuries, while Cadena was conscious but unresponsive and Arsate was unconscious and unresponsive.

Police said Arsate is still in critical condition at University Hospital.

Cadena passed away Sunday around 5:28 p.m. while also being treated at University Hospital.
