Man protecting grandmother shot by alleged carjacker

Man stops carjacking attempt on Diamonhead Drive

SAN ANTONIO – Jonthan Teasley, 20, is recovering from a gunshot wound to his right shoulder.

He was shot while cleaning out his grandmother's four-door Lexus SUV in the family's driveway in the 4500 block of Diamondhead Drive.

"They started scuffling. They both went down to the ground, Jonathan got up last and was basically kneeling and the guy put the gun directly on his shoulder," said Heidi Teasley the victim's mother.

The gunman was after the keys and fired one round in close range.

"The bullet had gone through the shoulder, exited the back, pierced the lung and fractured a rib," said Heidi Teasley.

Heidi Teasley said no vehicle is worth dying over but he had a good reason for putting up a fight.

"His grandmother had the keys and the only thing he though for that split second was, 'He's not getting to my grandmother.' So he made a really intense decision at that point," Heidi Teasley said.

Jonthan was placed in ICU but is expected to be released sometime in the next week.

The assailant took off  in a red or maroon older model Crown Victoria.

Police are asking anyone with information of the vehicle or crime to contact Crime Stoppers at 224-STOP.
