Motorcyclist dies after crash, struck by car

SAPD: Motorcyclist thrown off bike, struck by car on Northwest Side

SAN ANTONIO – A motorcyclist was killed after a crash on the Northwest Side early Friday morning.

The crash occurred just after midnight on Interstate 10 near De Zavala Road.

According to a San Antonio police report, the motorcyclist was traveling westbound in the 12300 block of I-10 on a black 2007 Honda Shadow motorcycle.

He lost control of the motorcycle, struck the concrete wall and was thrown off the bike.

The motorcyclist landed in the middle of a lane and was struck by the driver of black Ford Focus.  

The driver of the Ford Focus saw the motorcycle in the road but never saw the rider, the report stated. The driver of the Ford Focus stayed at the scene and called police.

The report stated the motorcyclist was wearing dark clothing and was not wearing a helmet. Police also said the roadway was poor lit and under construction.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not immediately released.

Police have not determined what caused the motorcyclist to lose control of the bike.
