Cop spots driver slamming into VIA bus stop

Park officer witness to damage


SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio park police officer witnessed a driver slamming into a VIA bus stop early Saturday.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, the officer saw the man driving north on Fredericksburg Road just after 2 a.m.

Police said the officer then saw the man lose control, go over a curb and hit a pole before smashing into a VIA bus facility at Fredericksburg and Gardina.

SAPD said the park officer rushed to get the man out of the crashed car, then placed him in the patrol car before going through the man's vehicle.

The officer then found some drug paraphernalia and a white substance in that car.

SAPD said the man will be charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, and could face more charges.
