Jewelry thieves target Stone Oak area

SAN ANTONIO – Thieves recently made off with hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of jewelry from a North Side home.

From bracelets to necklaces, in all the burglars stole an estimated $200,000 from the Stone Oak-area home just north of Highway 281.

Private investigator Charlie Parker was hired by the family to investigate the case.

He said he is working on at least three other similar cases in which diamonds were stolen.

"That total amount (is) close $600,000 worth of jewelry stolen," said Parker.

Officials with the San Antonio Police Department were unable to say the exact number of cases, but did say they have a number of them in the Stone Oak area.

SAPD said the item most sought after recently is jewelry.

Parker isn't surprised.

"I bet you in this city there are millions of dollars' worth in jewelry missing," he said.
