A West Side church made sure kids had everything thing they need before heading back to school.
Last Chance Ministries hosted its 8th-Annual Back to School Giveaway Saturday.
The event offered kids free haircuts, shots, dental and medical screenings as well as face painting and other fun activities.
With the help of vendors and sponsors, event organizers said they were able to give away about 5,000 backpacks.
"There's tons of people here and we're just excited to give back to the community. We do this every year and we're just making sure that no child leaves without a backpack here," said Santiago Robles, pastor of Last Chance Ministries.
Enroll SA and Get Covered America were also on hand to connect with parents about their children's health coverage options.
