Man, woman face child endangerment charges after street race

SAN ANTONIO – Two people are facing serious charges after a street race accident in Kirby.

According to the Kirby police chief, the crash happened before 1 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of FM 78 and Gibbs Sprawl Road. 

Police said a woman with a baby in her car was racing 25-year-old Donovan Shannon through various locations on the city's Northeast Side.

The woman's care T-boned a minivan at the intersection, injuring a man and woman inside and sending them to the hospital.

The woman driving the racing car was also taken to the hospital.

Shannon fled the scene before returning and being pointed out by witnesses. He was arrested on charges of endangering a child and racing on a highway causing serious bodily injury. 

The female racer has not yet been charged, but police are investigating and expect to file charges.
