El Paso man sentenced to 99 years

El Paso – An El Paso man convicted of rape has been sentenced to life in prison.

The convictions are the result of a June 26, 2013, case in which prosecutors say Valtierra-Payan broke into a woman's home and then threatened her with a knife and demanded money and jewelry after raping her.

Prosecutor Penny Hamilton says Valtierra-Payan will be eligible for parole in 30 years.
