However, what appears to have been a crime spree began around 3 a.m. Tuesday and ended less than four hours later.

Quality Inn near Interstate 37 & SE Military appears to have been the first business targeted.

That was followed by motel robberies at various locations throughout the city.

An SAPD spokeswoman confirmed that the Comfort Inn and Suites near I-35 and O'Connor Road; Holiday Inn Express in the 2800 block of Cinema Ridge; Super 8 motel at I-37 and  Hot Wells Boulevard; Super 8 motel near I-35 and Splashtown, and a La Quinta Inn somewhere on the South side, all had been hit.

An officer outside the Comfort Inn said the robbers had shown a gun to the clerk and demanded money, before running away.

As of 11 a.m., no further details were available on any of the other crimes.
