Lockdown lifted at John Jay HS after nearby shooting

Victim shot at nearby apartment complex, lockdown lifted

SAN ANTONIO – Police are still looking for the suspect who shot another man Wednesday afternoon outside a west side apartment complex and forced John Jay high school to go into lock down.

It all started just before 4 p.m. at the Marbach Manor Apartments in the 7200 block of Marbach Road.

Officers said the victim got into an argument with the manager who told him to leave.

At some point during the confrontation, the 26-year-old pulled out a gun and fired shots in the air.

The manager went to a nearby apartment where friends and family live and returned with another man who also had a gun.

The two men exchanged gunfire and the victim was grazed in the head.

The victim fled the scene, but Northside ISD officers found him at a nearby store.

Officers said it's a stroke of luck no one else was injured.

"We have buildings that were shot, luckily the kids were not released from school yet, we were in contact with NISD they actually delayed releasing the kids and locked the school down until we cleared this area," said Sgt. Mark Hubbard.

The victim was transported to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers know who the suspect is and are trying to locate him.

Hubbard said both men will face charges.
