Man shot in head drives SUV to get help

SAPD searching for suspect in shooting near East Commerce

SAN ANTONIO – A man was hospitalized in critical condition after he was shot in the head Tuesday evening.

San Antonio police said the shooting happened off East Commerce and Spriggsdale Boulevard around 8 p.m.

Police said the victim and suspect initially met in the 400 block of Como Street and the victim drove the suspect a few blocks away to an area near East Commerce and Spriggsdale Boulevard.

"Not really sure what took place there," said Lt. Scott Bell with the San Antonio Police Department. "But, at some point, the person he picked up demanded everything he had."

Bell said that's when the suspect shot the 23-year-old victim in the head. The shooter then took off in a black Toyota.

The victim drove his SUV back to the 400 block of Como Street where he got help.

He was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center and was last listed in critical condition.

Bell said it's not clear if the victim lived at that house on Como Street or what his relationship was with the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
