Police: Woman stole from neighboring storage unit

Rachel Perez, 43, also accused of pawning stolen items

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – A 43-year-old woman has been arrested in the burglary of a Northwest Side storage unit, one located a few doors down from one that San Antonio police said she rented.

Rachel Perez was taken into custody Tuesday on a burglary charge.

An arrest warrant affidavit that gives details about the alleged crime also names a man as second suspect.

However as of Wednesday morning, it was unclear whether he had been arrested yet.

The affidavit stated that another man reported the break-in in early August, saying that someone had stolen items, mostly tools, from his rented storage unit in the 3800 block of West Avenue.

Police investigated and said they found some of the tools at a pawn shop, along with receipts signed by Perez and the second suspect, the affidavit stated.

They said they also found evidence showing that someone used Perez's access code to gain access to the property on the night of the burglary.

She was booked into the Bexar County Jail with bond set at $5,000.
