Man convicted of DWI manslaughter in family death
FORT WORTH, Texas – A jury has found a North Texas man guilty of intoxication manslaughter in the drunken-driving crash that killed a family of three.
The Tarrant County jury deliberated for several hours over two days in Fort Worth before finding Benjamon Todd Stewart guilty Thursday of three counts of intoxication manslaughter and one of failure to stop and render aid.
The 43-year-old motorist was convicted of the July 2013 deaths in Arlington of 40-year-old Najib Intidam, his 27-year-old wife Hanane Intidam and 11-month-old daughter Nour.
Stewart has chosen to have his sentenced determined by state District Judge Scott Wisch, who has ordered a pre-sentencing investigation.
He could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison for each manslaughter count and 10 years in prison for failing to stop and render aid.
