SAN ANTONIO – North East ISD says it has launched a new mobile app for parents, students and community members to connect to district resources.
The NEISD Mobile App is free and available for Apple and Android devices, the district said Thursday.
The app offers access to the latest news, events and sports scores from the district. For parents, the NEISD app will allow them to view their child's grades, assignments, attendance record and cafeteria balance, according to the district.
NEISD said one of the most important features of the app includes an anonymous tip line.
"The Tip Line icon will take NEISD's bully awareness to a whole other level by giving students a quick and easy way to report bullying at their campus. It will also give students a chance to report other concerns as well," NEISD district officials said. "The app has a camera option that will allow users to upload a photo or take a photo straight from their phone to add to the tip. Users will type in their comment, select between two major categories (bullying or weapons) or select 'other,' then select the school."
The district said users can choose to remain anonymous or include contact information. From there, the tip will automatically be directed to the campus and the proper authorities.
"The NEISD Tip Line will provide a safe way for students to alert district authorities about information that may be useful in preventing school attacks, bullying and suicidal behaviors," the district said.
Other features included with the app include push notifications which will send instant alerts from NEISD and a Resources Icon filled with need-to-know information for parents.
