Woman shot in head found behind abandoned building

SAPD searching for possible shooter, victim listed in critical condition

SAN ANTONIO – A woman believed to be in her mid-20s to early 30s was hospitalized after being found suffering from a gunshot wound behind an abandoned building on the Northeast Side.

San Antonio police said two passersby, who they described as being homeless, found the woman after 10:30 p.m. Thursday in an alley behind what used to be a bar in the 4800 block of Rittiman Road.

According to an SAPD preliminary information report, the woman had a gunshot wound to the head and two shell casings were found near her.

Police said she appeared to be in critical condition when she was rushed to San Antonio Military Medical Center.  

Officers searched the area, but said there were no witnesses or suspects found as of 8 a.m. Friday.
