Police: Man shot family member during argument in Kirby
Pedro Perez, 27, arrested on charge of aggravated assault
SAN ANTONIO – Kirby police said a feud between family members is what led to the shooting of a man earlier this week.
Pedro Perez, 27, was arrested on charge of aggravated assault.
According to an arrest affidavit, Perez shot the victim, identified as Juan Zimmers, at his apartment complex in the 2600 block of Ackerman Road on Tuesday.
The affidavit stated Zimmers told police he had invited Perez over to the apartment to either "buy or use drugs," but the men got into an argument.
Zimmers told police Perez was upset that someone had reported him to Child Protective Services.
The argument turned violent and Zimmers told police Perez pulled out a gun and shot him in the chest, the affidavit stated.
Zimmers said he ran away to call for help, but Perez shot him again, according to the affidavit.
Zimmers told police he climbed out a window to get away from Perez and collapsed on a walkway where they later found him.
Perez was arrested and charged late Wednesday night.
