SAPD: Woman assaulted 71-year-old man outside Walmart

Candace Luna, 29, charged with injury to the elderly

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police said an East Side woman is to blame for a 71-year-old man's broken hip. Candace Luna, 29, was charged with injury to the elderly.

According to an arrest affidavit, the attack happened late last month outside a Walmart near Loop 410 and Rigsby.

Police said the man had words with Luna about a shopping cart she had left in the parking lot.

Witnesses told police Luna drove off but came back and began to attack the man who was smoking outside the store, the affidavit stated.

Police said Luna hit him with her arm and then knocked him down with her body, the affidavit stated.

The victim broke his hip in the fall and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police said a witness copied down Luna's license plate and they arrested her at her home.

Accoring to the affidavit, when they questioned her, she told them she "might" have hit him.
