Woman arrested in 2013 slaying

SAPD: Jacqueleen Olivo, 20, lured murder victim Jose Avila, 45

SAN ANTONIO – It has taken more than a year, but a suspect in the May 2013 murder of 45-year-old Jose Avila is finally in custody.

The suspect, 20-year-old Jacqueleen Olivo, was captured on surveillance video the night of murder.

Police had been searching for her for quite a while, until they obtained the warrant for her arrest Thursday.

She was arrested without incident at a home in the 300 block of Utah Street on the city's East Side.

According to police, Olivo lured Avila away from a bar and back to his home with the intent to rob him. That robbery turned into murder.

"Olivo was at the location with him, had two other suspects possibly that were waiting for him there and in the course of trying to steal money from the victim, the victim ended up being beaten severely and to the point of death," said Officer Douglas Greene of the San Antonio Police Department.

Olivo actually called police and gave a statement. According to police, what she said did not line up with the evidence, making her a prime suspect.

Police are still searching for the other suspects and say more arrests are pending.
